Rector Search

St. Peters Church is in the process of searching for our new rector. In prayer, we ask that our new Rector:

  • Have the heart of a Pastor and a willingness to share his or her spiritual journey and walk with us in ours;

  • Enrich the experience of worship through the exploration of diverse liturgical forms.

  • Take a leadership role in developing and expanding our sense of stewardship;

  • Understand parish administration and is willing to delegate.

  • Is sensitive to the issues facing our Diocese, the Episcopal Church and the Anglican conmmunion.

  • Is a presence in the local community.

Dear Fellow Parishioners;

The St. Peter’s Search Committee continues to evaluate and reduce the number of candidates.

As this goes to press we are beginning our visits to the home parishes of six candidates who may, for the moment, be considered as finalists. Should additional persons be brought to our attention we will review their credentials but for practical purposes one of the seven individuals we will visit over the next several weeks is most likely to be our new Rector.

Our candidates are geographically spread from near coast-to-coast. They come from
the mountains of Washington State to the coastal regions of Florida They include both
men and women. All are sitting rectors with many years experience leading their present and past parishes. They all write well. We will soon seen how they speak as we travel to listen to them preach in their present position.

Your committee is enthusiastic about the group we have been evaluating and believe
that there is a high probability that several could be wonderful additions to our Parish
family. After our visits are complete we will be recommending a smaller number to our Bishops for review and approval and will be inviting our final candidates to visit here in
Osterville. It is an exciting time. The process is long and sometimes cumbersome but
we trust and pray that the results will lead to new beginnings for all of our spiritual
journeys.
